Ayyappan Thiruppugazh

"Vakkirkku Arunagiri". Right from my schooldays, I was fascinated by the Rhythmic
Thirup pugazh verses of the All time Great Arunagiri Nathar. Inspired by the Santhak
Kavithaikal of Arunagiri nathar, Lord Ayyappan has demanded a few Thiruppugazhp padalkal on Him through me. Here is one composed in the year 2005.

Nan Unai maraven Narayanane!

Thiruvidanthai (Thiruvida enthai) is one among the 108 Divya desams of Sri Vaishnava Samprathayam.Situated close to Mamalla puram, this is one of the very ancient Vishnu temples .The Moolavar is Varaha Murthi & the Uthsavar is 'Nithya Kalyana Perumal'. As theLord agreed to marry all the 365 daughters of his devotee, Thiruk kayanam is performed to the Losd on all 365 days in the year.There us a hole on the cheek of the Uthsava murthi due to the daily Dhrushti Pottu for the Groom.

The Moolavar & Uthsavar are seen here with a pasuram by self.The pasuram adapts the description of Varaha Murthi from The Vedas & Shri.Nammazhvar's thamizh Vedam.

Gaja Samhara Murthy

Gaja Samhara Murthi (Kari uri porththa Piran in Tamil) is a rare dance posture of Lord Shiva. Shiva splits open the killer elephant & dances on its Masthakam.The Elephant's skin forms the arch around the Moorthi.Frightened Parvathi moving aside with Child Muruga in her hands
is not seen in the picture above.

Bangaru is "Gold". The Golden Kamakshi temple is in Thanjavur, Tamilnadu.
Shri Shyama Sastri, one among the Carnatic Music Trinities has composed Kruthis, Swarajathis on Bangaru Kamakshi.

Puli vahanan

Raja Ravi Verma had been my "Atharsam" from the days I started painting.After Ravi Verma's oleographs, another artist I admired in my school days was Shri Kondiah Raju of Kovipatti.
This painting of my Ishta Deivam(favorite deity) was Kondia Raju+ RaviVerma inspiration. Ayyappan is accompanied by his Puli vahanam & Naga raja. In the backdrop flows the Holy Pamba.Beyond the Sahyathri mountains, we see the Kantha Malai or Ponnambala medu where the lord appears in the form of Makara Jyothi.
